Ask almost any York Technical College student or graduate, and chances are they’ll tell you a compelling story of how York Tech changed their life. It might have been a professor who inspired them; or support services like tutoring or career counseling that were instrumental in helping them succeed. Perhaps it was a seamless transfer experience that allowed them to save thousands of dollars on the first two years of college, or a career training program that helped them get the job they always wanted.
We’ve heard thousands of these stories since York Tech opened its doors 50 years ago, and we couldn’t be more proud. How do we do that? We bring together community and industry leaders to advise us on what they’re seeing in their businesses every day, what employees need to know to excel, and what the future holds for students to be competitive. We know what’s happening in the real world of business and industry by maintaining these connections, and we use this information to create programs that are relevant and responsive to employers’ needs.
Additionally, York Tech partners with local school districts to promote early college success and pathways to higher education. We also work closely with some of the top universities in the state to provide transfer programs, where our students perform as well – and often better – than students who begin as freshman at four-year schools.
Community Benefit of Student Success
York Tech students stay and work in our community, contributing to the local economy every day as employees and consumers. Their education enriches the quality of life in the Catawba region. Of the College’s thousands of alumni, many continue to live and work in the region.

In addition, York Tech students, faculty and staff participate in a variety of service activities that benefit the community and its citizens.
