York Technical College offers a variety of support services and engagement opportunities to help students have a successful college experience. We understand that no student is the same, which is why we have a broad range of resources readily available for students.
Counseling Services – No matter what stage of life you are in, college is a big step. Counseling Services at York Tech offers support to students in a confidential and professional environment, working with students to understand their concerns and develop a plan for success. Students facing personal matters can meet with a member of the College’s trained counseling staff to receive guidance and support. As needed, counselors also can refer students to community agencies for assistance. York Tech also offers the Student Assistance program, a service that allows students a limited number of free visits with a counselor off-campus.
Academic Coaching and Tutoring Center – Whether you are having difficulty understanding how to take notes in class or study for an exam, or are interested in advancing your writing skills, the Academic Coaching and Tutoring Center is available to help. The mission of the Academic Coaching and Tutoring Center at York Tech is to help students become independent, self-confident, and efficient learners. Academic coaching is an approach to tutoring which combines consistency, responsibility, and efficiency. Our services help foster student success and retention through the mastery of academic skills and course content.
Student Ambassadors – York Tech is dedicated to making your college experience personal. Our Student Ambassadors are bright, personable and active community members who are available to help students learn the “ins and outs” of the College, campus life and much more. Selected through a competitive process, Ambassadors serve as campus tour guides, represent York Tech in the community, and actively partner to support various college initiatives and programs. As a result, they develop sought-after personal and professional skills in areas such as public speaking, leadership, conflict resolution, team building and time management.
Career Resources – York Tech offers personalized career guidance to all students and graduates, to help you successfully choose a career path and secure employment. The Career Resources staff coordinates on-campus company recruitment of students, organizes an annual career fair, and assists in the development of employability skills and the preparation of resumes. They also coordinate work-based learning opportunities, and provide students and graduates with local job opportunities through an electronic job posting database system. The staff also helps employers connect with qualified job candidates through online job postings, on-campus recruiting events, and career fairs.
