Presidential Scholars

The Presidential Scholars program at York Technical College provides a select group of high-achieving high school graduates with a unique one-year educational experience designed to prepare them for success at the four-year university of their choice.

Presidential Scholars receive exclusive benefits, including a full tuition scholarship, a financial award to cover the cost of textbooks, an Apple iPad, dedicated faculty mentors, exclusive leadership opportunities and cultural activities, and an accelerated path to university transfer.

Presidential Scholars are selected through a competitive process.To be eligible for the Presidential Scholars program, students must qualify for the LIFE Scholarship (GPA of 3.0 or higher) and test into college-level English and math courses. Technical Scholars

York Technical College’s Technical (Tech) Scholars program provides students and businesses with a unique partnership opportunity that combines real-world job training with academics, bringing hands-on experiences to students and quality technicians to area companies.

Unlike traditional internships and co-op programs, Tech Scholars is a sponsorship agreement in which the host company supports a student’s journey by providing on-the-job training in a chosen field; free tuition and books; free tools and supplies; salary and employment benefits (where available); and a flexible work schedule.

To be eligible for consideration as a Tech Scholar, students should be enrolled in an approved program of study with a GPA or 2.5 or higher; be available to work 20 hours per week; and be prepared to successfully pass drug and background screenings.

Interested students should first apply to York Tech via the online application at apply.yorktech.edu. There is a separate application for the Tech Scholars program, available in the Enrollment Services Office. Students are also encouraged to apply for financial aid with the FAFSA form at fafsa.ed.gov.
