Lancaster was the fastest-growing county in South Carolina in 2013-14, as anyone who’s driven through the Indian Land area can surely agree. York County was close behind, thanks in large part to growth in the Fort Mill and Lake Wylie communities.

In an effort to serve the people who live and work in the northern parts of Lancaster and York counties, York Technical College has opened an off-campus center in Indian Land, located in the Rosemont development off Fort Mill Highway.

The Indian Land Center, which opened in the fall of 2014, offers a full array of classes as well as access to admissions and financial aid counselors, career counseling, and other student support services. The full-service facility also includes a modern computer lab, testing center, and library services.

Beginning in the fall of 2015, York Tech will offer two programs exclusively at the Indian Land Center. The Accelerated College Experience (ACE) program allows students to complete an associate degree in 18 months by taking classes at night. The Web Programming Certificate qualifies students for positions in a field projected to grow 20 percent between 2012-22, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In addition to the new center in Indian Land, York Tech operates off-campus centers in Chester and Kershaw.

The Chester Center has been housed in a spacious new facility on College Place since 2009. The Chester Center brings high-quality higher education to the residents of Chester County, including courses in health- and industrial-related programs. In addition, several high school dual-enrollment and apprenticeship programs are located at the Chester Center.

The Kershaw-Heath Springs Center is located in the Lancaster County Government Complex in Kershaw. In addition to offering a variety of classes from across York Tech’s academic programs, the Center provides placement testing, student advising and other services.
